Wow. 2 quickfire trades that TPed in less than 6hrs for a 180 pips. Same principles of 30 pips SL 90 pips TP RR 1:3. I'm now at a new record for this strategy (122%). Trade safe.

Latest Strategy Week 8 - $12,600
Not a good week. Could've closed out to keep my capital around $15,000 a couple of times, but wanted to stay true to the system. Lost almost 50%. Let's go again next week! Trade safe.

Latest Strategy Week 7 - 115% ($15,700)
The gap over the weekend saw my last open position hit SL for a 3% profit. Opened 4 positions today with 2 contracts each, now that I've doubled my initial capital. All with SLs 30 pips away from the current day's lowest/highest.
This should therefore mean that I gain about $7,000 in a month's time. We'll see! Trade safe.

Latest Strategy Week 6 - 112% ($15,500)
Big dip in AUD/JPY saw my position TP for the biggest single trade gain in this strategy so far (35%). We've crossed the 100% mark! Now the question is if we can sustain this. Currently still have 1 open EUR/CHF position on a 4% running profit, SL at less than 1%. Means it's gonna be a record week for sure! Trade safe!

Latest Strategy Week 4 - 63% locked in, 1 open position
Logged in to see 1 order filled for USD/CAD. Up 50 pips now, 10 more to my TP. Gonna try adjusting my TP/SL to see if I can expand the gains accordingly. Trade safe! (edit - checked in an hour later and a sudden spike saw my adjusted TP hit, so I'm at $11,900 now.)

Latest Strategy Week 4 - 46% locked in
So last week, I could've hit 12k, but decided to wait out the trades, and have ended up at $10,700 (making $500 instead of the paper profit of $2,000). Respectable returns still. Placing some orders so will update once they've been filled. Trade safe!

Latest Strategy Week 4 - 53% locked in.
Woke up to see 4 open positions for a paper profit of $500. So taking into consideration an expected 30% win record (so far 9 wins out of 30 trades), those 4 trades would have given me about $200. Since I was double that, I decided to close out. I've still got a few unfilled orders for this week, so let's wait and see if this new strategy tweak pans out. Trade safe!

Latest Strategy Week 3 - Profit Sweet Spot?
So I was sitting on a 25% paper profit, and decided to let the trades run out. Ended up losing 13%, while still being on a 25% profit.
Is there a sweet spot of profit a week? That I should close out once hit? I'll stick to the TPs and SLs for now. Mathematically, that would make sense if I see a massive spike in profits some weeks i.e. Couple of trades in a row going my way. But if the plodding still continues i.e. 5% a week, then maybe I should set a weekly target instead. $9,200 now (down $1k) with about $2k running. Trade safe!

Latest Strategy Week 3 - 36% locked in, 10% running
4 open positions. And I've breached the 30% mark! This has been a truly sustainable strategy these past few weeks. No need to stay up late, not trading like mad, way more losses than wins, yet staying reasonably profitable. At 46% in a month, I'll just need a $300k account to work 1 month a year! But let's not get ahead of ourselves shall we :) Trade safe!

Latest Strategy Week 3: 16% locked, 13% running
Somehow it seems like I'm hovering at a 30% actual+paper profit. Lost $600 today on 2 trades, but running $1000 paper profit on 3 open positions. So far I've ended the week consistently higher, so I'm staying with this strategy for now. (Next one I'm hoping to try is the 1:100 RR). Trade safe.

Latest Strategy Week 1 - 19% overall
Kinda went against my rules and took a few trades today. Ended up making losses. But my trade from earlier in the week TP-ed making me another 4% today. It's been a fabulous week. $7,300 - $8,700. I've never had so many losing trades and yet still be in profit. I've never had so much vanishing paper gains (11%) and still felt good about the system. There are no bad trades only bad systems! Trade safe guys!

USD/JPY just hit my limit for $700. 4 open positions currently. I think I'll only take positions from Mon - Wed. That gives enough time to see out the trend, without the gapping that comes over the weekend. Trade safe.

Updated RR 1:3 Strategy
The latest strategy saw me go from $6,800 - $7,300. About 7% gains in a day. It also saw me lose till $6,100 before making 3 trades in a row to hit $7,300.
But I'm still not extremely comfortable with it. My entry points are not as standardised as I'd like them to be. So I tweaked it a little. I now go for 1:3 RR, but in the same direction as the previous day's open and close, with a stop at the previous day's open/close. I will then keep adjusting my stops to the previous day's open/close, until I finally get stopped out/hit my limit. I also try trading the more volatile pairs (JPY crosses mainly), and only enter when my stop is 20 to 40 pips away (for breathing space, and to keep to about 4% drawdown).
Yesterday, I took 4 trades. Checked in mid day to see a paper loss of 700. Check in again to see a paper loss of 200 instead. This is in line with my previous pivot point strategy. I think what that means is that when I enter, I'll put in an order instead, that's say 15-20 pips above/below the current price.
So far, 1 trade got stopped out (i'm at $6,900), but 3 trades were up for a paper profit of $1,000 at 0800 today i.e. about 10%. Let's see how they pan out (edit: up to 2k at 0930 and 3k at 1330). I'm still unsure of when I should take profit or let the full trade run out. Let's see how it goes.

New strategy - RR 1:3
Been trying a couple of systems these few weeks. Didn't really work. Last try was a 5 pip limit 15 pip stop. Got to 10% gains before hitting a 20% loss. This then got me thinking back to my first 2 pip strategy that netted 24% gains before a 30% loss. I realised that maybe in fact reversing the stops and limits might just work. So now:
Trade opposite direction of previous bar. 5 pip stop, 15 pip limit. Go for a lower required win percentage. Previously when gg for a high won percentage, it was trade in the same previous day direction, 5 pip limit 15 pip stop. So perhaps going the exact opposite with good discipline would see the exact opposite results? Let's try! Current RR is 1:3. But previously my RR was 10:1. Maybe a 1:10 RR might be something for the future... Trade safe!

Vanishing Paper Gains to 65% gain - 240% total
I just saw a 50% paper gain vanish before my eyes. While I definitely understand the rationale of letting my system play it out, there just that "aww shoot" feeling y'know? Like why can't I just TP and imagine that it was a trade I'd never placed in the first place? Haha... Oh well, let's keep it up for now. It's been a mere week into this current strategy. I'm still thinking of my 1 pip TP strategy all the time though! Trade safe!
Edit: I got back to 65% gains and closed it out, as that was at the R1 level today where it had bounced off once today. So I took that as new info and adjusted my trade accordingly. I'm still comfortable being a little dynamic at least. But guess what, I should've left it and would have netted an additional 30%! Trade safe.

Finally success - 100% gains
I have finally broken through the 60% mark to hit 100% gains. Perfect trade set up and execution when AUD/USD hit S2, and I went long for 25 pips with a SL of 15 pips. Now on 52k from 26k. Let's keep this going!
Interestingly, I met a fellow CFD trader yesterday. He said he'd been doing it successfully for years! Ultimately he uses the basic strategy rules, but one thing I grabbed off him was his RR of 1.6. Perhaps that's indeed the magic number and that's what I used for my last trade. I've always found that the common RR of 2 or 3 is always quite difficult to hit. So maybe this is indeed the magic number?
The basic strategy he had was - Follow rules emotionlessly - so he only does orders and never live trading; max drawdown of 5% (I use 20% thereabouts currently to see if I can achieve more massive gains); using last known supports and resistances as SL (I didn't ask what timeframe though); and trading in US and HK stocks; don't use CFDs as a main source of income (something I differ in, and that's why my max drawdown is so high, haha...); and he's using CIMB as his platform. He said returns can probably hit 100% annually, so I'm taking that as an indication to keep pushing this envelope - and to fall back on a safer strategy of a lower percentage max drawdown, if my attempts to breakthrough that don't work.
My next goal is to hit 400% returns. Let's see if I can get there. Trade safe.

2 failed trades. Back to 20% gains
I realised a 2-day trend - all my failed trades were taken after 1700hrs. Perhaps I should continue observing to see if this is yet another set up I can exploit - bursting through pivots from 1700hrs onwards, while bouncing off them, from 1000hrs - 1500hrs. And indeed, my 60% gains limit continues to hold! Trade safe.

Open Trade - EUR/GBP at S2 - Closed for 19%
Opened IG, saw some pairs in the middle of pivot points, and saw EUR/GBP at S2. So took a trade 15 pip stop, 18 pip limit (cos S1 was only 10 pips away). Running a $700 profit now. Let's see where it goes.
Some hours later I logged in and saw $8k gains. Another 5 pips to my TP at today's pivot, so I decided to leave it, but pushed my SL to S1. It reversed and I ended with 5k gains. "Lost" 3k, but 2 learning points - you never lose money when taking profit; I wonder what would have happened if I left it overnight instead. Once again, I have hit the 60% gain level - 65% actually. Can it be pushed even further, or will I start losing again? Trade safe!
Edit: turns out I would have hit TP if I'd left it. Haha! I also hit another 20% loss off a losing trade, so indeed 60% might just be my magic number! We'll see how tmr goes...

Wow. What a trade.
So one of the rules is don't trade every day. I am physically restricted to my own free times, so that naturally takes care of that rule.
I went in looking at the various majors and saw AUD/JPY at S3. It had hit S3 twice on the 15m timeframe. So I went in for a 15 pip stop and 30 pip limit. Whoa. Somehow it struck gold in just 20 minutes. My biggest ever trade win - 46% gain in one trade. At 38k now. And it actually gained another 10 pips as I typed this. Went up to S2, and then flew back down 15 pips towards S3. Phew. Imagine the possibilities. Trade safe.

Pivot Point Strategy
OK so this is what I'm going to do. At the start of the day, I'll set alerts 10 pips above and below resistance and support levels. Then I'll go for reversals, 20 pips, with a 10 pip stop. Good R:R. I'll also cross reference with other correlated pairs to see if the direction is the same as added confidence. Let's try! Trade safe.

Time for a new strategy - 55k to 26k :(
Haha... Somehow Everytime I hit a 60% profit, the strategy collapses. Maybe I should just aim for 60% and call it a day!
So far so good... 60% gain
Haha... Famous last words, but saw a great trade that validated the strategy. The signals app got stopped out on a trade, but I stayed in it cos I saw it was at a pivot point and it really reversed for a 15 pip gain.
At 55k now, 60% up. Hope I'm still here after a year! Trade safe.

Back to the drawing board
So I managed to creep from 31k to 53k. But then position went against me and I got stopped out for 20k.
I had been pretty indiscriminate with the trades, basically trading every single signal I saw. To adjust the strategy, I think I'll stick to pairs with spreads of less than 1-2 pips, and also cross reference against pivot points. Hopefully this further increases the winning probability.
So starting again at 34k - let's see where this goes! Trade safe.

42% returns in 1 day
So I started this free signals app. Tried it for a bit on my demo account. Wasn't very clinical about it, just trading generally in the signal directions, no real rules. Went from 35k to 42k and dropped all the way down to 25k. I was using money management, but this signals app had a RR of 25:18. Also not ideal, but I understood it, coming from my initial 2 pip strategy (higher probability of wins).
I then decided to tweak the system a little. Firstly, I trust the direction of the signal, since it's probably used a bunch of algorithms to get it. Then, instead of going for the suggested 18 pip gain, I just use a 5 pip limit. I then forget about money management, and dump my entire margin in.
Well whaddya know. 42% gain in a day. 10 trades out of 10. Made $13,000 off $31,000. Not my best return (I'd made 180% before remember - but that was with not much of a system. AND I'd lost it too), but really my best return off a systematic technique.
It's an incredibly risky technique cos there's absolutely no money management. And I do not have a recovery strategy cos I go all in. RR is about 10:1. Which is about 40% of my account.
But well. Since we're trying this out for a year, let's see where it goes again! Trade safe.

Overall 80% loss since 15 May 18
Yet another failed trade. I didn't follow the rules this time. Tried adding another rule - trade in the direction of the parabolic SAR when the day shows an opposite colour. Well it didn't work this time! Feeling quite defeated. Not sure if I'm still gonna carry on with the experiment. We'll see. And just to be clear, this is an 80% loss because I've yet to put in all my ideal capital. Based on my 4% stop rule, I've actually only lost 14% (246 out of 1750). Trade safe!

3% gain - 7% overall loss since 15 May 18
Was looking at a 50-pip paper loss on my long position yesterday. 5 pips away from my stop! The day finally closed at a 40-pip paper loss. In theory, I should have taken the loss and went for a short position instead. But this was a very similar trade set up to Tue 22 May. A strong bull move that day saw a big bear reversal the next day, before the bulls came back on the 24th.
So I decided to wait out the trade and when I checked in today, I saw that it tested the high on Monday, so since I was in profit and it's a potential double top, I decided to close out the trade. Turns out it would've hit my TP if I'd waited. Oh wells! My success can't be dependant on just this trade alone right? Trade safe.

Took a 33% hit. Stop loss of 55 pips was triggered. Interestingly at 0600hrs, there was very little upper shadow, and I was looking at a 20 pip loss. Perhaps a new rule could be to reverse the trade upon a 20 pip loss at 0600, since it indicates strong bears, and changing timezones would mean people see the bears and hop on the bandwagon. Kinda makes sense - for example yesterday it was 20 pips up from 0000hrs to 0600hrs, and it hit another 20 pips higher the rest of the day. Worth checking out! Trade safe!

Max Drawdown Implications for Initial Capital - Proper Money Management
Currently while I'm trading on a $216 account, it seems like I'm making lots of gains (12% per trade) with crazy drawdowns (33% per trade). This is however inevitable given the small capital to begin with.
My long term goal is really to keep it to a low max drawdown. This means that using my existing strategy, I'll need a $3,600 account for a 2% drawdown. Definitely something I'm willing to fork out.
However by starting small with $216, it gives me an opportunity to make the same absolute profit, without forking out all $3,600 at once! This just means that each time my drawn down goes below $216, I should top up my account, in order to continue trading the same lot size, in order for the strategy to fully pan out.
So actually I'm not that crazy after all :)
This means that while my strategy would gain me 400% in a year (assuming I don't have to ever top up), this would only be for the first year. The ultimate aim is to have a low maximum draw down. Based on my current strategy of making about 800 pips a year, this would mean a 14.5% return for every 1% risk I take per trade i.e.
1% drawdown = 14.5% returns a year
2% drawdown = 29% returns a year
3% drawdown = 43.5% returns a year
4% drawndown = 58% returns a year
I think 58% is decent. This will be the ultimate aim and vision. So let's see if I can get there without having use too much of my own capital, i.e. trade off pure profits. Trade safe!

Missed a successful trade on 16th May. Slept through the alarm and so didn't place the trade as the upside potential was only 6%. Would've made it though.

Massive 58% loss - Starting at $216 on 15 May 18
So I lost a trade yesterday at 55pips. But the travesty of it was that - I clicked on the wrong currency! Didn't realise I was on EUR/USD instead of my AUD/USD! Well, decided to let the trade run anyway - and ended up with a loss.
But it's ok! I'm in this for the long term. So now is just the chance to continue trying my latest strategy to see how it pans out. In fact, this is actually starting clean ($216) as all my earlier gains were from varying strategies.
So with $216 as a starting base, I can only buy 1 mini contract. This means every 20 pip gain is a 12.3% gain. My downside is then 33.8% every trade. I'm doing a big no-no in trading i.e. over-leveraging. But since this is an experiment, let's go with it! Trade safe!

Strategy Update After 1 Year Backtest
Ok. Finally got the time to key down 1 year's worth of data. Backtested fully for a few strategies. The better ones as follows (Trading only on Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri @ 0000hrs):
1. In direction of previous day bar: 20pip limit, 55pip stop - 510pips
2. In direction of previous day bar: 20pip limit, 55pip stop, close position if end of day sees a move 30pips against you - 680pips
3. In direction of a previous day 27pip move: 20pip limit, 55pip stop, close position if end of day sees a move 30pips against you - 790pips
Looks like I'm gonna change my strategy again! The 27pip move is a signal of a strong enough trend, and prevented me from taking a couple of losing trades on the other strategies.
Here's the data for your own use. Trade safe!
